FIFA 23 is the ultimate soccer simulator that marks the end of an era for EA's acclaimed franchise. With a revamped Career Mode, smoother controls, and stunning next-gen graphics on PlayStation 5, FIFA 23 surpasses its predecessor in every way. Electronic Arts has also made significant improvements to FIFA Ultimate Team (FUT), allowing players to create their dream squad without any penalties. While it's sad to say goodbye to this iconic console game, FIFA 23 serves as the perfect finale to an unforgettable franchise.
Gameplay in FIFA 23 continues to refine the virtual soccer experience, making it feel more realistic than ever before. One notable improvement is the elimination of the pace reliance issue that plagued previous editions. With the newly added AcceleRATE system, players can now sprint in different ways, ensuring a fair playing field for all. The AI-based technology, Hypermotion2, enhances player animations, making movements smoother and more natural. Set-pieces have also been improved, allowing players to control the trajectory of the ball based on their strike. Additionally, FIFA 23 puts a greater focus on women's football, introducing women's clubs from various leagues and competitions.
FIFA 23 introduces the Power Shot feature, a brand-new technique that adds excitement to matches. Players can unleash a powerful strike by pressing L1 + R1 + Circle, but mastering this technique requires skill and timing. The game modes on PlayStation 5 offer a noticeable evolution from previous iterations. The MyCareer mode has been revamped with new features such as playable highlights, transfer analysis, and the ability to play as a manager. FIFA Ultimate Team (FUT) has undergone a much-needed overhaul, simplifying the chemistry system and allowing for more experimentation with different line-ups. Moments, a new alternative to Squad Battles, offers short scenarios and challenges to earn stars and trade them for item packs. VOLTA mode returns with new features, including online and offline competitions, larger pitches, and improved gameplay.
The graphics in FIFA 23 are truly impressive on the PlayStation 5. From the realistic players to the detailed stadiums, the game creates an immersive experience that rivals a real TV broadcast. The lifelike graphics extend to the match itself, with players' faces and clothes covered in sweat and visible marks on the turf. These small details contribute to the overall realism of the game.
While FIFA 23 offers an excellent gaming experience, it does include microtransactions in the Ultimate Team mode. These microtransactions, in the form of loot boxes or FUT Packs, can be acquired through gameplay, but their presence remains a concern for many players. Despite this drawback, FIFA 23 remains a memorable farewell to the franchise, providing hours of fun for soccer fans worldwide.
